5 Fun Alternatives to Giving Out Halloween Candy!

Tomorrow a small army of ghouls and goblins will be knocking on your door saying, “Trick or Treat!” With so many children having food allergies, food sensitivities and specialized diets, candy is not always the best option. Here are a few fun and festive alternatives to giving out traditional candy! As an added bonus you won’t have giant bowls of candy lying around your house to tempt you!

  1. Halloween stickers: Stickers are a classic that kids love! They are also inexpensive and can easily be found at your neighborhood dollar store.
  2. Glow sticks: Glow sticks are bright, colorful and kids and adults both love them! They can also be found at the dollar store.
  3. Rings: Anywhere that sells Halloween candy is also bound to have spider, bat and skull plastic rings. These are super festive and are a great inexpensive way to fill your treat bowl.
  4. Bubbles: Bubbles can be purchased in bulk, are inexpensive, and a lot of fun for kids to play with.
  5. Halloween-themed school supplies: Anything from Halloween themed pencils and pens to small holiday shaped note-pads.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Festive Fall Pumpkin Seed Recipe

Pumpkin Carving Contest

With all of the different pumpkin varieties at my local grocery store I couldn’t help but purchase a few pumpkins for me and my husband to carve! We both have a very competitive nature, so needless to say it turned into a pumpkin carving contest!

My husband decided to carve his pumpkin to look like a haunted house, and I must say it looks pretty spooky!

I decided to carve this ghoulish goblin! I must say that both of our pumpkins came out looking very festive, and I can’t pick a favorite!

We used all of our seeds that we scooped out of the pumpkins to make delicious roasted pumpkin seeds!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of pumpkin seeds
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cajun Seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons of melted butter or olive oil

Directions

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Clean your seeds removing any major string or pulp. Toss the pumpkin seeds in a bowl with the melted butter or oil and seasoning. Spread on a single layer lined baking sheet. Bake for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden brown and enjoy!

Please share with us your pumpkin carvings on our Facebook page! We will have our staff vote on their favorite pumpkin and have a not-so scary surprise for the winner! The contest will end on Halloween, October 31!

  • Tea Tree Oil: A natural antifungal that compromises the fungal cytoplasmic membrane.
  • Biotin (Vitamin H): A key component for faster nail growth, which will help in replacing the diseased nail.
  • Urea: Enhances the effectiveness of the ingredients in the preparation by softening the nail.
  • DMSO: Enhances the penetration into the nail and nail bed.

So don’t let winter rolling around be an excuse to hide your nails under mittens and boots! Dr. Hotze’s Antifungal Nail Solution does require a prescription, and can be ordered by contacting a representative with Hotze Pharmacy. The current cost is $39 a bottle.

Hotze Skin Vitalizer Oil

Our wonderful compounding lab recently formulated a brand-new preparation that I am in LOVE with! It is called Hotze Skin Vitalizer Oil and it has three simple, yet natural, ingredients that make this preparation a great moisturizer and have also been shown to alleviate stretch-marks!

  • Argan Oil – This is an oil that I have been a fan of for quite some time! Argan Oil contains essential fatty acids and the precursor of vitamin E making it a rich source of antioxidants. Argan oil is recognized for its moisturizing, rejuvenating and hydrating effects on the skin.
  • Rose Hip Oil – This oil contains an abundance of essential fatty acids along with vitamin A and E. The essential fatty acids regulate the flow of skin oil and nourish skin supporting protein fibers called collagen and elastin. These important protein fibers enable the skin to stretch and reposition itself without sagging or wrinkling.
  • Dexpanthenol (also known as Panthothenic Acid, or Vitamin B-5) –which Acts as a moisturizer and maintains skin softness and elasticity.

Like our other skin care products, to order Hotze Skin Vitalizer Oil you will need a prescription from your physician. The price for Hotze Skin Vitalizer Oil is $45 for a 2 oz bottle. Treat your skin to some today!
